Efrain Barrera
Efrain Barrera brings over 25 years of experience in community development and education, with a deep commitment to serving youth and families in San Francisco. A longtime resident of the Mission District since immigrating in the early 1990s, Efrain has been a steadfast advocate for equity, access, and sustained investment in immigrant communities.
Efrain currently serves as Interim Executive Director of the Latino Task Force (LTF), after previously leading as LTF Director under Mission Language and Vocational School. In this role, he was instrumental in strengthening cross-sector partnerships between LTF member organizations and the City of San Francisco, while enhancing coordinated service delivery and expanding the initiative’s citywide impact.
A founding member of the LTF’s Education Committee, Efrain has co-chaired the committee for the past five years, helping to shape collective impact strategies focused on educational access, economic mobility, and community empowerment. His expertise spans grant management, program implementation, and coalition building.
Efrain holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a proud father of two teenagers and remains deeply rooted in the Mission District, where he continues to be an active presence and advocate for his community.
